Is a second opinion worth it if I already have a diagnosis?
Often, yes. A second opinion can confirm that your current diagnosis and plan are sound, or it can surface something that was missed, such as bipolar spectrum patterns read as depression. Either outcome gives you more confidence in your care.
Do you need my previous records?
Records help but are not required. If you have prior diagnoses, medication lists, or notes, they add useful context. If you do not, we spend the evaluation carefully rebuilding your history so the impression is based on the full picture.
Can you take over my care after a second opinion?
Yes. If you would like to continue with ANK Behavioral Health after your evaluation, we can provide ongoing medication management and integrated support. You are also free to take the impression back to your current provider.
Is a psychiatric nurse practitioner the same as a psychiatrist?
Both diagnose psychiatric conditions and prescribe psychiatric medication. Ours are board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNP-BC), focused on careful evaluation and medication management.
Who do you see?
Adults 18 to 65 who are physically in New Jersey at the time of each visit. Most visits are by secure video, anywhere in New Jersey. Our office is in Mount Laurel, NJ, and in-person visits there are limited and by appointment only; ask our office.
